Privacy policy

What AstegniAI keeps about you, who receives it and for how long. Last updated 23 October 2026.

What we keep

  • Your account: your email, name, handle, time zone and plan, and a hash of your password (never the password itself). With Google sign in, Google gives us your email and name.
  • What you upload: your course materials, the photos of your exams and your syllabus files.
  • How you study: your questions to the tutor and your answers, your progress, flashcards, and your calendar with its events and feed links.
  • Reminders: the push subscription of each browser where you turn on reminders.
  • Payments: the plan, the amount, the receipt number and the result of its check. We do not keep the payer details from the receipt.
  • Server logs: each request with your account id, to run and protect the service.

Who receives it

  • AI providers. To teach you, we send your course material, your questions and answers and your exam photos to an AI provider: Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), OpenAI or OpenRouter. When one provider is down, the next one gets the request, so each of them can receive your content.
  • Push services. The push service of your browser (from Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft) carries your reminders to your device. A reminder is encrypted and holds no lesson text.
  • PayVerify checks the Telebirr or CBE receipt that you send when you buy a plan.
  • Our email provider sends the verification and password reset emails to you.

Shared files

When two students upload the same file, we process it once and keep one copy. The processed file holds no data about who uploaded it. When no course has used a file for 90 days, we delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your courses, uploads, progress, flashcards, exams, calendar and reminders at once. The records of your payments and of the AI use stay for our accounts, without your account.

Delete your account

Open Settings and use Delete account at the end of the Account section. Confirm with your password, or with your email when you sign in with Google. You are signed out on every device at once.
